IFF to brighten economic gloom with uplifting scents.(INTERNATIONAL NEWS)

Christophe Laudamiel is used to making the unpleasant smell appealing. The IFF senior perfumer behind Thierry Mugler's concept collection based on the film Perfume, has now been charged with dispelling the bad smell of the sub-prime crisis at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, which opened on 23 January.

Laudamiel has created eight fragrances for the occasion, which were pumped through the conference halls, reaching the nostrils of some 2,400 delegates. The WEF asked him to create aromas that would evoke the intimacy of the meeting and help delegates solve the malodorous economic issues of the day.
