Cosmetic surgery takes off down under.(FINANCIAL NEWS)
Cosmetics International, March, 2008
Australians are spending more per capita on cosmetic surgery than North Americans, according to new research from The Australian Psychological Society.
Dr Mary Dingley, president of The Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia, says Australians are increasingly prepared to pay big money for a range of cosmetic treatments, including Botox, wrinkle and filler treatments and various photo-rejuvenation techniques.
It is estimated that Australians spent $300m on such treatments in 2007.
Dingley says this figure is expected to rise by at least 10% during 2008.
