The October 2007 acquisition of Playtex helped push Energizer's second quarter net sales up 30% to $951m. Playtex, which owns the Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic sun care brands, saw its own sales reach $223.8m in the quarter. Without Playtex, net sales were flat and net earnings dipped nearly $5m to $60.9m due to the challenging US market and destocking.
