Commerce One, PWC to partner;target software, services for e-procurement hubs.(Brief Article)

While marketing deals between consulting and software giants have become as common as a Mercedes-Benz in a Silicon Valley parking lot, none have focused exclusively on procurement exchanges. Until now.

PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., the nation's biggest consulting company, and Commerce One Inc., the biggest e-procurement company, announced earlier this month they will jointly market and build Internet trading hubs for Fortune 500 companies. PWC will supply the business know-how inherent to exchanges, while Commerce One will deliver the software that will make them work.

New York-based PWC has dedicated 400 of its 35,000 consultants to marketing and installing Commerce One e-procurement platforms. But that number could double over the next year, said...
