Twelve months ago, Covisint L.L.C. was hailed by Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and DaimlerChrysler executives as a revolutionary b-to-b consortium. The then-unnamed venture promised cheaper parts procurement, quicker car designs and lightning-fast identification of supply chain holdups. It was expected to soon have a market capitalization of between $30 billion and $40 billion and be counted on to shave $3,000 in costs off the average $19,000 vehicle.
