`Standard' shutdown jolts ailing industry.(business publisher The Industry Standard)

The Industry Standard, which rose to such heights during the dot-com boom, came crashing down last week. It was the latest setback in what has been a calamitous year for business publishers.
Last Thursday, the three-year-old weekly suspended publication, effective immediately. Standard Media International, publisher of The Industry Standard, said it likely will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and that most of its180 employees will lose their jobs. The magazine's Web site is continuing to operate with a skeletal staff.
The company said it continues to search for a buyer, but analysts question whether it will find any takers.
