B to B, May, 2004
Verizon Wireless has awarded its national advertising account to McCann-Erickson, New York, and its media planning account to Universal McCann, both part of McCann-Erickson Worldgroup owned by Interpublic Group of Cos. The total account is estimated at between $300 million and $400 million, although Verizon declined to disclose spending. The incumbent on the account was Interpublic's Lowe & Partners, although McCann had been serving as the temporary account steward since Verizon split with Lowe in February. The 13-week review was narrowed to McCann and one other agency, Arnold Worldwide, according to a Verizon spokesperson.
