Martin Maleska was pushed out late last month as president-CEO of Primedia's Business to Business Group. "It was a surprise,'' Maleska said in an interview with BtoB. He said he had no immediate plans. Maleska joined Primedia in August of last year, leaving media merchant bank Veronis Suhler Stevenson to serve under interim CEO Charles McCurdy, who left parent Primedia Inc. two months later when Kelly Conlin was named CEO. Industry observers see Maleska's departure as a continuing effort to eliminate layers of top management to reflect the decentralized structure Conlin is familiar with from his years at International Data Group.
