Internet advertising, which saw a steep decline in the two years following the dot-com crash, is once again booming.
In 2003, Internet advertising revenue reached $7.3 billion, up 21% from 2002, according to the "Internet Ad Revenue Report'' prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
By comparison, Internet ad revenue declined by 17% between 2001 and 2002, and by 12% between 2000 and 2001.
The growth is continuing at an even stronger rate this year.
In the first quarter, Internet ad revenue totaled $2.3 billion, up 38.9% over the first quarter of 2003 and the highest quarterly total since the IAB began tracking spending in 1996.
