DM hiring report: a mixed bag
Sixty-seven percent of direct marketers plan to increase staff in the fourth quarter, up one percentage point from July, according to a survey by Bernhart Associates Executive Search, a direct marketing industry recruiter that tracks employment trends. However, the number of companies planning cutbacks in staff increased to 10%, versus 2% in July; and 15% of those surveyed said they have imposed a hiring freeze, compared with 6% in the summer. The findings are based on an e-mail survey of 143 companies in October.
