TNS reports Q3 ad revenue up 3.8%
Total ad spending during the third quarter was up 3.8% from the year-earlier period, according to TNS Media Intelligence. For the first nine months of the year, ad spending was up 4.0% over the same period last year, TNS reported. Media with the highest growth during the first nine months of the year included Spanish-language TV (up 19.1%), Internet display advertising (up 17.9%) and spot TV (up 6.3%). Radio advertising declined by 1.1% during the first nine months, advertising in b-to-b publications was down 2.0% and advertising in local newspapers declined 3.7%. The top advertising categories in the first nine months were telecom (up 13.8%), local services and amusements (up 11.0%) and financial services (up 5.3%).
