McKesson software to run lab testing equipment for Christian Hospital. (Hospital Purchasing).(Brief Article)

Christian Hospital, St. Louis, 676 beds, selected McKesson Corp., Atlanta, to provide software used in laboratory testing equipment.

The hospital, part of BJC, an integrated delivery network, will install McKesson's Horizon Lab system in its reference laboratory, which performs tests for about 600 area physicians.

The hospital is considering expanding services to outpatient facilities as well.

The choice of McKesson was based in part on Horizon Lab's microbiology function, according to lab systems administrator Karen Schwent, who said that function "stood out" among other candidates.

The system is expected to speed up processing, provide better tracking of results, and ensure regulatory compliance.
