Doctors Community Healthcare Corp., Scottsdale, Ariz., was expected to finish by Aug. 1 its conversion to contracts from its new group purchasing organization, initiating estimated first-year savings of 3% to 4%.

In a three-year membership agreement that took effect May 31, Doctors joined MedAssets HSCA, Bridgeton, Mo., and quit AmeriNet, St. Louis.

Doctors, a for-profit system, has six hospitals totaling 1,578 beds. The move represents a shift of $30 million in annual purchasing volume for medical-surgical and pharmacy products.
