Roche Laboratories selected Priority Healthcare Corp., Lake Mary, Fla., to distribute its Pegasys[R] under a monotherapy sampling program. Pegasys is Roche's pegylated interferon alfa-2a for hepatitis C treatment that recently received FDA approval.

In the program, Priority will provide samples to physicians to treat approximately 15,000 patients during the first 12 weeks of therapy.

After this point, responding patients will seek public or private reimbursement to complete the course of therapy.

The Pegasys samples will be distributed from Priority's Grove City, Ohio warehouse. Pulse oximeters made by Masimo Corp., Irvine, Calif., received high marks from anesthesiologists at a recent conference.
