Congress noting impact of gas prices on manufacturing.(washington watch)

The start of the 2004 presidential campaign may do for natural gas supply issues what four years of industry pleading to Congress never could. The dire straits faced by U.S. manufacturing, the contribution of high natural gas prices to those conditions, and the elevated status of manufacturing in the 2004 presidential campaign are all combining to focus Congress' attention more acutely on gas supply snags.
