FERC staff gives REX East initial EIS clearance.(Washington watch)

In late November, the staff at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) published a draft environmental impact statement essentially clearing the proposed Rockies Express East (REX) project, slated to run 639 miles from Wyoming to Monroe County, OH. When completed, it would be the last and third leg in the 1,679-mile Rockies Express Pipeline System, which will deliver gas to eastern and northeastern markets allowing them, theoretically, to reduce their dependence on Gulf Coast gas.
