The Bharti Group and Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) have marked the completion of the first phase of $650 million Singapore-India undersea submarine cable network -- "i2i." This is the first private cable to link India and Singapore and the world's largest in terms of capacity. Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Singapore counterpart Go Chok Tong made an inaugural call via the 3,200 km long "i2i" cable network to Tamil Nadu Governor P 5 Rammohan Rao in Chennai.
