Four Japanese companies--Vodafone KK, Tu-Ka Group, KDDI, and NTT DoCoMo--have announced that they have made a compact device that can be used in underground shopping malls and remote places where reception is not very good. This device, weighing 26kg with an approximate size of 38 x 30 x 25cm, is also compatible with 2G services offered by some telecom service providers.
It has an antenna and an amplifier. The four companies will jointly work on the installation and maintenance of the device owned by mobile service providers.
