Asia Pacific Telecom, March, 2006
Sharp, Renesas Technology, NTT DoCoMo, Mitsubishi Electric, and Fujitsu are teaming up to develop a complete mobile-phone platform. The platform developed by these Japanese firms supports EDGE and HSPDA technologies, with complete development support for middleware, operating systems, and drivers.
Mobile-phone makers do not need to develop a different system for common handset functions. The platform is capable of being executed directly as a base system for W-CDMA phones.
