Acca Networks signs a $620 million WiMAX JV with NTT DoCoMo.(JAPAN)

Japan-based ADSL provider Acca Networks has entered into a WiMAX joint venture with NTT DoCoMo according to a Reuters report. Acca is keen to use DoCoMo's resources in order to unveil ultra-high-speed wireless Internet access. Acca will invest $259 million in the $620 million venture and own more over 40 percent, while DoCoMo will hold a 26 percent stake.

Although WiMAX enables users to access high-speed Internet access and download from phones, laptops, and other mobile devices, several Japanese users have started using 3.5-generation phones, which allow high-speed broadband access. Meanwhile, Acca is also holding talks with other companies, according to its president Masaharu Kimura. Acca is trying hard to attract users to its high-speed wireless Internet service.
