Pacific Internet and Asia Netcom commence their operational merger.(ACROSS THE REGION)

Asia Pacific Telecom, February, 2008

Pacific Internet and Asia Netcom have commenced their operational merger, under which the new firm, Pacnet, would be launched with a new brand. The main contributor for Pacnet's growth is its EAC-C2C cable infrastructure, which is a 36,800km submarine cable network capable of carrying 10.24Tbps of capacity. Of this, only 240Gbps is presently lit.

Pacnet has also commenced upgrades for a new next-generation network and has chalked out a strategy for a trans-Pacific cable. Following the merger, Pacnet would be able to launch solutions for enterprises, retail users, and the wholesale carrier market.
