Asia Pacific Telecom, March, 2008
Japan based Internet services firm Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) has signed a deal with cellular service provider Emobile for providing MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) services in March 2008. IIJ provides cellular services through NTT DoCoMo's FOMA network (IIJ Mobile Access Service Type D) and Emobile's HSDPA (Type E) network.
IIJ Mobile will combine Emobile communications with robust content protection features for preventing viruses and other information-related threats. Apart from providing corporate WAN with high-speed cellular communications services, IIJ also intends to deliver connectivity to closed networks bypassing the Internet. The charge for a one-year Type E service is $51.64 a month while a two-year deal would incur a charge of $43.19 per month.
