SingTel, Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Power, and Axia to bid for Next Generation National Broadband Network.(SINGAPORE)

According to a Reuters report, Singapore-based SingTel has teamed up with Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Power, and Axia NetMedia to jointly bid for the much-talked-about super high speed broadband network in the city. SingTel and Canada-based AXIA NetMedia each own a 30 percent holding in the consortium, while Singapore Press Holdings owns 25 percent stake.
Singapore Power's telecom division owns the remaining 15 percent stake. The new Next Generation National Broadband Network, which would be completed by 2015, will enable subscribers to browse the Internet at speeds of 1Gbps, which is 10 times faster than the ones currently available.
