TWM considering IPTV service via Chunghwa's MOD platform.(TAIWAN)

Taiwan Mobile (TWM) said that it is eyeing the operation of Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services using Chunghwa Telecom's MOD (multimedia-on-demand) platform. TFN Media, which is a subsidiary of Taiwan Mobile business group, is an MSO (multisystem operator) in certain areas of the country.
It is planning to unveil IPTV service in areas that are not served by its MSO service. TWM plans to use the MOD platform for providing digital audio/video services. CHT currently provides fee-based VoD (video-on-demand) via MOD despite the fact that MOD is an open platform. It is for this reason that TWM's IPTV service is being seen as a competition by industry experts. Moreover, Taiwan's NCC (National Communications Commission) has yet to frame regulations on the issue...
