Hanaro Telecom launches new Internet phone services in Korea.(KOREA)

Hanaro Telecom, the second-biggest landline communications company in Korea, has announced the launch of a new Internet phone service. Internet-based phone calls currently cost less than the STD/ISD calls made from landlines. Internet phone numbers in the country start with the prefix 070. According to the landline operator, all domestic calls are charged at $0.037 for three minutes. International calls made to 24 nations including China and the US cost $0.049 per minute.

People can make these calls from their current handsets. Around 11 firms currently provide Internet phone services in Korea, including Korea Telecom, LG Dacom, and Korea Cable Telecom. LG Dacom is the biggest among the group, with 800,000 users.
