Asia Pacific Telecom, October, 2008

Hanaro Telecom has chosen Israelbased company Corrigent for providing the network infrastructure for the delivery of its premium IPTV (Internet Protocol television) services. Hanaro, which is the second broadband operator in Korea, is planning to provide a range of content and VAS (valueadded services) under its IPTV service.

However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the deal. Hanaro has already unveiled a 100Mbps broadband service for its residential customers and it now is committed to hiking its penetration via FTTH technology. TeleGeography's GlobalComms database reports that Hanaro's IPTV user base is likely to reach 1.3 million by the end of 2008.
