Lucent Technologies to Provide Optical Networking Systems for High-Capacity, Local Networks in China's Suzhou City.(Brief Article)

Lucent Technologies announced that it has signed a contract with Suzhou Telecom in China's Jiangsu Province to provide optical networking systems for its local networks in Suzhou City. Suzhou Telecom is a subsidiary of China Telecom, the biggest telecommunications service provider in China.
Under the US$5 million contract, Lucent will provide Suzhou Telecom with its dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) and synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) technology, which will increase the capacity of Suzhou's local networks and enable it to offer new bandwidth-intensive data services to its customers.
