Huawei to Build MAN and Expand Transmission Backbone for Telemar in Brazil. (Fiber Optics).(Huawei Technologies Company Ltd.)(Brief Article)

Huawei Technologies, an equipment provider in China, signed an agreement with Telemar, a fixed-line telephone operator in Brazil, to build a metropolitan area network (MAN) in Rio de Jeneiro. It will expand a state-level transmission backbone. The contract's value was not disclosed. Telemar reported its highest sales revenue in South America last year, with 86 million subscribers in Brazil, accounting for half of the country's total.
The project consists of three 2.5 G circles. Two circles cover Rio de Janeiro, while one circle covers the whole of Rio state. The total length of the network reaches 700 km.
