UTStarcom kicks off PAS data and value added services by unveiling first PAS color screen multimedia handset in China. (Other News).(Brief Article)

UTStarcom Inc. unveiled on May 2 its new color screen handset, the 718U, which will enable users in China to optimally access its wireless Internet, data and entertainment services. The announcement was made at the Fifth International Telecom Exhibition in Xi'an, China where the handset was made available for public viewing for the first time and where UTStarcom's PAS systems currently support over 300,000 subscribers.
UTStarcom began offering data and value-added services in Xi'an in the fourth quarter of 2001.
