interWAVE Communications, a pioneer in compact wireless communications systems, announced that in partnership with Eastern Communications Co., Ltd., it will provide base station equipment to build China Unicom's ShangDong province GSM network. China Unicom, one of the two nationwide cellular operators for China, will deploy interWAVE's WAVEXpress TurboMAX to extend coverage and increase network capacity for four territories in ShangDong province.
