Opal Telecom, one of the UK's largest network operators and a subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse Group, has signed an installation and support contract with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. ("Huawei"), a provider of next-generation telecommunications networks for carriers around the world.
The deal will enable Opal Telecom to build a next-generation network to support the delivery of new advanced voice and broadband data services to UK customers.
According to the contract, Huawei will install, commission, and provide support services for an MSAN solution across Opal Telecom's entire access network; up to 500 sites will be commissioned in the first year as part of an aggressive local loop unbundling initiative.
