Nokia: sales rise 39 percent by rural expansion in China.(FINANCIALS)(Financial report)

Nokia reported a 39 percent rise in net sales in China to EUR5.3 billion in 2006, boosted mainly by sales in rural areas. Exports rose by 67 percent year-on-year to reach EUR4.8 billion. China has been Nokia's single biggest country market since 2005 with sales of mobile phones rising 57 percent year-on-year to reach 51 million in 2006. Nokia's global handset sales rose 19 percent in the same period. Its market share in China has risen from 30 percent in 2005 to 35 percent in 2006, mainly from expansion into rural areas.
