China Unicom plans to unveil GPRS in important cities.(TOP NEWS)

China Unicom plans to formally unveil GPRS services in around 50 cities in the People's Republic sometime in 2007. The general manager of China Unicom's value-added department, Tong Xiayu, had said at the end of 2006 that the company would take the initiative in providing GPRS services this year in around 100 cities.
Beijing Unicom has already unveiled a limited GPRS service, and plans to make it commercially available soon. According to reports, sister firm Shanghai Unicom had also upgraded to GPRS by the end of last year. It has also unveiled value-added services on a trial basis.
