BPL Mobile grants $20 million deal to Huawei Technologies.(COMPANY NEWS)

India's BPL Mobile has granted a $20 million network expansion deal to China-based telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies for reducing its operational costs.

Under the one-year deal, Huawei would undertake the responsibility of deploying microwave stations, GSM base station subsystems, and routers for the Indian operator's Mumbai circle. It would establish an all-IP NGN (next-generation network) for BPL Mobile. By rolling out Huawei's equipment, BPL Mobile would be able to reduce its total cost of ownership by cost-effectively expanding its GSM services. It would also be favorably placed to attract new users by expansion of current capabilities.
