BSNL to invest $99.24 million to expand its CDMA network.(COMPANY NEWS)

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), the biggest telecom operator in India, is planning to buy telecom equipment worth $99.24 million for expanding its CDMA (code division multiple access) networks in 500 towns across India. Kuldeep Goyal, chairman and managing director of BSNL, said that the company is keen to quickly procure additional equipment from China-based equipment vendor ZTE Corp.

The company plans to deploy an additional 7,000 BTS (base transceiver stations) in its CDMA business. In October 2005, BSNL had signed a deal with ZTE for the supply of over 2 million CDMA telephone phones.
