The average price difference between cable and satellite TV service has narrowed significantly over the past five years, with the average monthly expenditure for satellite service falling below cable for the first time, according to the J.D. Power and Associates "2003 Residential Cable/Satellite TV Customer Satisfaction Study" just released.

The study finds that the average monthly expenditure for satellite TV service is $48.93up 8 percent from 1998. However, cable spending has increased 41 percent in the same time period, moving from an average of $35.15 per month in 1998 to $49.62 per month in 2003.
