Telenor Satellite Services announced the first in a series of secure networking value-added services it plans to offer. Terralink Secure, which Telenor plans to launch in Q2, is designed to stop unwanted traffic and content coming from the Internet to a user's satellite terminal before the content enters the satellite portion of the end-to-end connection.
Terralink Secure differs from client-installed firewalls and security programs running on the user's PC, which can stop unwanted traffic after it has passed over the satellite portion of the connection. As a network-based service, Terralink Secure results in a more efficient use of the satellite link both in terms of throughput and cost.
