Vodafone, DoCoMo in bind over AT & T Wireless.(UK)(NTT DoCoMo Inc.)(Brief Article)

Analysts are speculating that if either NTT DoCoMo or Vodafone does not make a run at AT & T Wireless, both companies may be shut out of the US market for good. DoCoMo has designs, analysts said, but its investors aren't keen on international acquisitions since the company's forays into the international market to date has not been lucrative. DoCoMo holds a 16 percent stake in AT & T Wireless and when a new owner takes over that stake will likely be bought out, freezing DoCoMo out of the market. Vodafone, on the other hand, owns 45 percent of Verizon Wireless, but is unhappy with the partnership due to incompatible technologies and Verizon Wireless' independent streak.
