TPSA in Poland, a unit of France Telecom, plans to reduce the headcount in the company in 2005by about 3,500 out of a total of 30,000. France Telecom has a 47.5 percent stake in TPSA.
The number will be reduced further as about 500 employees are expected to retire. TPSA has been continuously conducting retrenchments since France Telecom acquired its stake in 2000.
The unit had 75,000 employees in 2000. The company reduced the number of employees by about 6,000 in 2004.
