O2 Germany has awarded the deal to provide UltraSite base stations, BSC3i base station controllers, its NetAct network, and its service-management system to Nokia. O2 Germany has undertaken the expansion of its GSM network to increase coverage in the Northern, Western, and Eastern parts of the country.
The financial details of the four-year contract were not made available. The deal includes supply of hardware, software, and other services such as help desk, software maintenance, emergency support, and hardware repair by Nokia. It is one of the largest wireless operators in Europe and has a customer base of about 24 million in the U.K., Germany, and Ireland.
