Austria's WiMAX Telecom introduces WiMAX telephony.(AUSTRIA)(Brief article)

WiMAX Telecom was one of the first providers in the world to offer mobile broadband data and voice services. The Austria-based service provider stated that it is now the first in the world to provide telephony via WiMAX technology, with WiMAX Fon. WiMAX has a transmission range of about 15 kilometers.

It is a broadband wireless standard and can be used by customers for Internet requirements. Users can use WiMAX for voice telephony. WiMAX Fon works with ordinary telephone handsets and provides the sound quality of a fixed network. A subscription will cost $11.79 per month. It will include 120 free minutes to the Austrian fixed network.
