European Commission plans to investigate Qualcomm.(ACROSS THE REGION)

The European Commission has asserted that it would probe the allegations of unfair business against Qualcomm made by many mobile-phone makers. Nokia, Texas Instruments, NEC, Ericsson, Broadcom, and Panasonic filed the case around two years ago. This dispute pertains to the price Qulacomm's competitors need to pay for using its patented technology--wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA).

Meanwhile, a spokesman has stated that the Agency will unveil as well as expedite the investigation, adding that this case could take an additional two years. The rivals, in their complaints, had stated that Qualcomm had not fulfilled any of its commitments, arguing that the decision to incorporate W-CDMA for third-generation (3G) mobile phones was made only after...
