European Telecom, November, 2007
European Union regulators have approved a deal under which Netherlands-based Royal KPN NV would purchase IT services firm Getronics for $1.08 billion. According to the European Commission, this deal would not violate EU competition norms; it added that KPN and Getronics would face stiff competition from several players even after the purchase. KPN is hopeful that this deal will allow it to be the number one player in workspace management in the Netherlands.
Getronics currently delivers IT services in 25 nations. Its clientele includes the US military. KPN provides broadband Internet and fixed telephony services in the Netherlands.
