Ericsson stated that it has become the first player to demonstrate Long Term Evolution (LTE) in Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) as well as Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode on a single base station platform.
LTE technology is capable of using the same platform for paired as well as unpaired radio frequencies, which allows operators to achieve economies of sale.
Ericsson's LTE demonstration on TDD mode covered several applications, highlighting speeds of more than 90Mbps downlink with 2x2 multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO). The company had earlier showcased LTE in FDD mode on various occasions supporting speeds of 160Mbps.
