Alcatel-Lucent has won a contract for supplying a backhaul solution to Japanese cellular service provider Softbank Mobile for supporting the mobile operator's 3G network. Alcatel-Lucent's mobile backhaul solution uses IP/MPLS technology for providing the backhaul solution.
The contract entails the provision of the Alcatel 7670 Routing Switch Platform, which supports next-generation multimedia services, as well as the 5620 Network Management (NM) platform. The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal.
