Airpower, September, 2002
I was sitting in a red-vinyl booth at the diner with my favorite girl, eating a cheeseburger, savoring the fries, and enjoying my vanilla Egg Cream. Chubby Checker was belting out "Let's Twist Again" on the jukebox, and as I glanced out the window, a brand new Ford Thunderbird drove by - the one with that cool-looking little porthole on the hardtop. The winsome blonde behind the wheel smiled as her limegreen chiffon scarf flew in the wind. Man, it just didn't get any better than this back in the 1950s. There was just one little thing, though - 'this' all happened last week!
The diner was a Johnny Rockets, the jukebox was playing 'golden oldies', and that Thunderbird was a hot new 2002 model. I don't know if the blonde was wearing her poodle skirt or not, but...
