Franchising community reaches out to hurricane victims: as this issue of Franchising World went to press, International Franchise Association members were rushing to aid those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. The great loss of life and destruction that Hurricane Katrina has inflicted on those in New Orleans and surrounding areas deeply saddens everyone at IFA and the community of franchising at large. The need for humanitarian relief is almost beyond comprehension, but it is encouraging that so many companies, organizations and individuals have quickly stepped forth to offer assistance.

The expressions of concern arriving at the association reveal that the franchising community as a whole is eager to pitch in and do its part.

In early stages of disaster relief, many organizations stressed that those wishing to assist consider financial contributions first, rather than contributions of products or supplies and or sending people into the affected areas....
