Georgetown University Law Center student Alicia Winston has been named recipient of the first Franchise Law Diversity Scholarship Award. Established by the IFA Educational Foundation and sponsored by DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP, the annual $4,000 scholarship was created to recognize academic achievement and to encourage minority law students to pursue careers in franchise law.

Winston, a graduate of Howard University, is interested in combining franchise law with international development and trade. She developed an interest in franchise law while working as an auditor with Marriott International, a position which required her to work regularly with franchise agreements.
