Tata to shelve its ISP outfit. (Business).(Brief Article)

India Telecom, September, 2002

The Tata Group has put Tata Nova, the Internet service offering from Tata Internet Services, on the phase-out mode. It has ceased pushing new retail sales across markets pending a clearer picture on the expected restructuring and consolidation of the group's Internet businesses. The new Internet presence, which is set to be completed over the next two to three months, is likely to be under the Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) umbrella.

"A unified package under the VSNL brand name is likely bringing together Tata Nova and our own Internet services," they said. An integration committee is currently looking at the future structure of the group's telecom businesses including the Internet.
