Tata to merge Tatanova with VSNL. (Contracts).(Brief Article)

The Tata Group has decided to merge its lesser known Internet service provider "Tatanova" with the telecom behemoth Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL). It is almost a year of taking over VSNL by Tata.

"We will merge Tatanova with newly branded Internet service Tata Indicom in order to have a single identity," VSNL director of operations N. Srinath said. With a mere 2 percent share of the Indian ISP market, Tatanova has around 50,000 connections, integration of which with VSNL has already commenced. Known as "Smart ISP," Tatanova is operates in form of cybercafes in five cities and offers IP-based Virtual Private Networks, standard or customized Internet Data Center services, and a host of value-added and industry-specific solutions.
